Hi,
I just got a new laptop and running Fedora rawhide on it (kernel 2.6.27-0.156.rc0.git4). The problem is that this laptop uses Fn + F1 key to switch the wifi on every time, on windows this works fine, since the driver to handle the key is there (though it's still very annoying to do that every single time). How can I make this work on linux though?
dmesg output

iwl3945: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG/BG Network Connection driver for Linux, 1.2.26kds
iwl3945: Copyright(c) 2003-2008 Intel Corporation
iwl3945: Detected Intel Wireless WiFi Link 3945ABG
iwl3945: Tunable channels: 13 802.11bg, 23 802.11a channels
phy0: Selected rate control algorithm 'iwl-3945-rs'
firmware: requesting iwlwifi-3945-1.ucode
iwl3945: Radio disabled by HW RF Kill switch
iwl3945: Radio disabled by HW RF Kill switch

Thanks
Ilya

Does this computer has any other HW RFKILL switch except Fn + F1?
Can you send us the model of the is laptop

Thanks

Hi Thomas,

Thanks a lot for your reply, since I am still forced to use an ethernet cable right now. No, there's no other switch and there's no BIOS option to have the wireless turn on at boot. It is a Fujitsu Siemenes Amilo Li 2735. Let me know if you need any other information

Thanks again
Ilya

we might have some fix. But I don't have hw that I can reproduce it on
so it would be good if you can try it. Are you comfortable with
patching kernel?

Thanks

Hi Everybody,

I must admit that I have subscribed to this mailing list just to fix a similar
problem, but with some important differences.
I'm an owner of a Acer Aspire 5920g with integrated iwl3945 wifi card. The
card
works but with some issues related to its state (on/off). There is a button
with a led
that controls on/off states, but even if I don't press it, it happens
sometime that when I boot my system, the wificard is down. Consider that
iwl3945 is loaded with module option disable=0 to have it always working.
At this point, if I'm lucky, pressing the button activate the card and after a
while the led blinks, otherwise the only way to have my wireless card to work
is to remove and reload the module iwl3945.
I'm using the latest compact-wireless compatible with a 2.6.26.3 kernel. Have
you any suggestion? Regards

Valerio

This has probably something to do with platform wiring the rfkill.
Currently we are trying to get one of the platforms qdon't have any
platform that the problem is reproducible.

Till we get one you can help us to get some debug info. I will send
more info later.

Hi Tomas,

I'm confident enough with patching the kernel and I'm willing to help you in
developing. See you
